CONSULTING
Studies show that boys who are involved in
extra curricular activities are more likely to be successful
socially and academically. However, not all boys are athletes
or are inclined to play a musical instrument. This leaves a
huge number of males in your school who are not involved in
any extra-curricular activity. The lack of constructive
engagement and direction often leads to:
Interest in gang
membership
Poor conduct and
behavior problems
Lack of purpose
Lack of
self-discipline
Feelings of
isolation and unimportance
Depression and anger
Low self-esteem
Low academic
motivation
In addition, many males in our society are being raised in
households where there is no male present. Some boys never
have contact with their biological father. In 2002, 16.5 million or 23
percent of all children were living with their single mother.
Our young men need to be mentored and motivated so that they can
be successful in life. They need guidance and support to make
wise and intelligent decisions.
